Varudu Movie Review
Movie Review : Varudu Rating : 2/5 Banner : Universal Media Cast : Allu Arjun, Bhanusree Mehra, Arya, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Sayaji Shinde, Ashish Vidyarthi, Brahmanandam, Naresh, Sangeetham Srinivas Rao and Others Music Director : Mani Sharma Cinematography : RD Rajasekhar Producer: D.V.V.Danaiah Director: Gunasekhar Released Date: March 31, 2010 |
Story:A stale tale, the story begins with Sandy/ Sandeep (Arjun) who is all set to go to America as he gets a job there. Though he lives a modern lifestyle, he is an idealist at heart and believes in arranged marriage. He also wants to have the marriage in the old age style for five days and waits until 'Jeelakarra Bellam' to see the face of the bride. He gets his dream girl in the form of Deepthi (bhanu) and on the wedding day, an incident occurs and Deepthi gets kidnapped. Sandeep figures out that the person responsible for this is Diwakar (arya). Who is this Diwakar? Why did he take Deepthi away? What does Sandeep do to solve this problem? All this forms the rest of the story. |
Presentation:The director has come up with a flimsy storyline and both his presentation and narrative were a letdown. The dialogues were weak, the script was pathetic and the screenplay was annoying. Background score was good at places but two songs were worth humming. Cinematography scored only during songs but otherwise it was average. Editing was raw, costumes were impressive and the art department worked hard to get laudable appreciations. Coming to the cast, this will be a surprise for Allu Arjun fans, he is rather meek and not much fire is seen in him. Bhanu Mehra was just okay and is not worth the hype. Arya was effective but his role was not. Ashish Vidyarthi, Suhasini, Naresh, Vinaya, Anita, Nasser, Rao Ramesh had very brief roles. Brahmi was not required. Ahuti Prasad was wasted, the others didn't have much to offer. |
Conclusion:The film created a lot of hype regarding its proper Telugu wedding and the heroine factor but both of them have turned out to be a damp squib. The film takes off on a wrong footing and there is no voltage in it. The second half gets further complicated and the final nail on the head is hit with the bizarre climax. Barring few places where the technical values are good, the film has nothing at all and the blame is completely the director's. Despite having lavish budget and efficient cast, he has not been able to deliver a proper product. The film will not survive for more than two weeks. |
Arya 2 Movie Review
Movie Review : Arya 2 Rating : 2.75/5 Banner : Aditya Arts Cast : Allu Arjun, Kajal Agarwal, Navadeep, Shraddha Das, Brahmanandam, Ajay, Mukesh Rishi, Sayaji Shinde and Others Cinematography : R D Rajasekhar Music : Devisri Prasad Producer: Aditya Babu & BVSN Prasad Director: Sukumar Released Date: November 27, 2009 |
Story: A supposedly psychological entertainer, the story begins with the life of the orphan Arya (allu arjun) and for some reason, he develops a strong affinity towards Ajay (navadeep), another orphan. Ajay's fortune changes when he gets adopted by rich parents, on the behest of Arya. In no time, he grows up to set up a software company and becomes a successful entrepreneur. Arya is unable to stay away from Ajay and he creates a set up wherein he gets roped into the same company as an employee. The story takes a turn with the arrival of Geetha (kajal), a new employee to the company. Both Arya and Ajay fall in love with her and what happens from there forms the rest of the story. |
Presentation: The director has come up with a rather confusing theme and though the presentation was excellent, the narrative was a letdown. The dialogues were alright, the script had many flaws and the screenplay was erratic. Background score and songs were top notch, cinematography was a show stealer with mesmerizing angles and frames. Editing could have been better, costumes were rich and the art department made its presence felt strongly. Allu Arjun did justice to his role and has portrayed few scenes very well, his dance is outstanding. Navadeep was competent and has given an impact. Kajal looks gorgeous and she is the perfect fit for the role. Shraddha was sexy as usual but not much for her in terms of performance, Brahmanandam was hilarious at few points, Ajay was excellent, Mukesh Rishi was justified, Sayaji Shinde was not able to shine, the others did their bit as required. |
Conclusion: The film turns out to be rather complicated in terms of content and the message it is trying to convey. While the first half seems to be quite mild, it is just before the interval things begin to pick up pace. The second half has got twists in the tale but it is not until the end of the film that the entire confusion is revealed. By that time, the interest in the plot is let off by the audience. The technical and production values are amazing but the content and writing part has been a disappointment. The film might appeal a little to the urban audience but nothing for the masses. |
Parugu Movie Review
Movie Review : Parugu Rating : 2.5/5 Banner : Sri Venkateswara Creations Cast : Allu Arjun, Sheela, Prakashraj, Poonam Bajwa, Sunil, Jayasudha, Subbaraju, Jayaprakash Reddy, Srinivas Reddy, Chitram Seenu, Dhanraj and Others Presents : Smt. Anitha Art : Anand Sai Cinematography : Vijay C Kumar Choreography : Raju Sundaram & Prem Rakshit Editor : Marthand K Venkatesh Lyrics : Sirivennela Sitaramasastry, Chandrabose & Ananth Sriram Music : Manisharma Producer: 'Dil' Raju Director: Bhaskar Released Date: May 01, 2008 |
Story:A typical family treat, the story begins with Subbalakashmi (Poonam) who is in love with Babu and as expected her marriage gets fixed with someone else. This is arranged by Subbalakshmi's father Neelakanta (Prakashraj) without knowing his daughter's feelings. As expected, she elopes with her lover right on the day of the marriage much to the embarrassment of Neelakanta. Now, he starts his hunt for the two and in this process that they have been helped by local boys of the village and also a few from the city. One among the city happens to be Krishna (Allu Arjun) who is basically a street smart guy but with no activity or career to pursue. Neelakanta and his men manage to kidnap Krishna and the other friends involved in the eloping mission (Sunil, Srinivas Reddy, Chitram Seenu) and all of them are brought to the village. They are accommodated at an out house of sorts which is next to Neelakanta's house and he promises to release them all once the love birds are located. Neelakanta sets out on his search and meanwhile Krishna is smitten by Meena's (Sheila) charms. He is busy trying to woo her and finally manages to win her heart. Much to his dismay, he discovers that she is none other than Neelakanta's second daughter. What happens from here forms the rest of the story. |
Presentation:The director has come across with a clean subject about love and the clash of ideology between the elders and the younger generation again. His narration is good and has come up with a mature presentation of the subject. He has been well supported by some good background score and the cinematography captured the emotions correctly. The script is soft and the screenplay is technically good. All other departments have done a standard job. Allu Arjun has come up in a very different shade this time and it is more of his acting skills that are put to test than anything else. Sheila has come in a deglamorised role and yet again it is the acting quotient that has to be considered. Poonam Bajwa is pretty but her role is limited. The real stunner with a powerhouse performance is Prakashraj who portrays the anguish of a girl's father in a perfect way. Full marks to him. The others like Sunil, Srinivas Reddy came out with decent performances and got some tickles and the rest of the cast have done upto the mark performances. |
Conclusion:The technical values, the subject and other aspects are fine but the question of truth is, will the audience have the heart to digest Allu Arjun as a character actor than an action packed mass character. This is a conflicting revelation to the audience who goes in with some real fire and end up tasting water. The only chance to bring the film out of crisis would be, if the movie works like a slow poison like Bhaskar's 'Bommarillu'. The movie will not appeal to the hot blooded youth in any way and will find its place in the hearts of girls fathers. There are points in the movie, which have given a confusing stand as to who is the real hero, Arjun or Prakashraj. It is very hard for the movie to sustain commercially but will please the class audience |
